Ladies and gents, we have our fifth tropical storm of the 2012 hurricane season. As of the 5pm update from the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Ernesto has formed. With its current path it does not look like the East Coast will see any waves from Ernesto. However, anyone in the Caribbean or on the Gulf of Mexico coastline should keep a close eye on this guy.

The storm is still in the early stages of its life but most of the computer models are saying the same thing for Ernesto’s projected path. Tropical Storm warnings have already been issued in Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Dominica. Tropical Storm warnings are in effect for St. Lucia, Martinique, and Guadelope.

As Ernesto makes his way through the Caribbean Sea he will most definitely generate some waves for the southern coasts of Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Jamaica. Looking ahead to next week, it looks like Ernesto will be pumping swell into the Gulf of Mexico.

For more information on Tropical Storm Ernesto and to stay up to date be sure to keep an eye on nhc.noaa.gov and wunderground.com/tropical.
