Rip Curl Pro Bells Heat Match-Ups

The waiting period for the 2012 Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach in Australia runs from April 3rd to April 14th. The forecasts are already starting to show some significant swell on the horizon which means that this year could be one of those all-time epic Bells contests. Rip Curl Omega Wetsuit

Times were a whole lot different back in the mid 80’s but it seems some of the fashion trends from back then are starting to make a comeback. To celebrate Tom Curren’s 30th anniversary with Rip Curl they are re-releasing the wetsuit Curren wore during his back to back world championships in 1985 and 1986. The Omega, which used to be Rip Curl’s signature wetsuit is getting a huge update in way of wetsuit technology but still looks exactly the same as it did in the 80’s. More »

Kelly Slater Wins 11th World Title

Yesterday was a huge day for the surfing world for two reasons: We remembered the loss of one of surfing’s greats of Andy Irons as he passed away a year ago yesterday. And by making it through his round 3 heat at the Rip Curl Pro Search 2011, Kelly Slater took a large enough lead in the points rankings that he was declared the 2011 ASP world champion, making it his 11th time being declared the champ. Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco is On

We’re back — and so is the ASP World Tour! After a couple of weeks since the last contest in Portugal, the pros are stateside and surfing in Ocean Beach, San Francisco, as part of the 2011 Rip Curl Pro Search. Today is the first of the twelve day waiting period and the contest officials are wasting no time as the round 1 heats are on right now. With a building NW swell in the water and variable wind conditions it looks pretty fun, and there is more swell on tap for the next couple of days. Joel Parkinson and Sally Fitzgibbons Win at Bells

  In what was one of the best, if not the best, Bells event in the 50 years of the contest’s history we saw clean pumping waves for the entire event along with absolutely amazing surfing from both the men and the women. The heat matchups were close, a lot of them having multiple lead switches, and a few came right down to the very last wave. Giving it was Easter week, a ton of Australian spectators made their way down to Bells to watch and cheer for the world’s best. In the end, Joel Parkinson and Sally Fitzgibbons, both Australian, made their mark by winning the second event of the 2011 ASP World Tour. More »

Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach Round 1 Results

The first day of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach was yesterday and they were able to complete round 1 heats for both the men and the women in pumping 4-6 foot clean waves. Woman’s round 2 hears are in the water right now and then men will be in the water after them.   Today (in Australia) kicks off the 2011 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach. Most of the world’s top surfers have been in Torquay, Australia for some time now and everyone is pumped for the second stop on the ASP World Tour to start.
