New York Surf Film Festival Outlines 2012 Official Program

The New York Surf Film Festival (NYSFF) recently revealed its final list of selections for the 2012 film program. Last year the world’s best surfers all arrived in New York for the most lucrative surf contest ever, the Quiksilver Pro New York. Late in the semifinals Kelly Slater had his back up against the wall to Taj Burrow and needed a huge score . In typical Kelly fashion, he boosted this huge air to net him a perfect 10 and move on to the finals. More »


Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue / Long Beach

Hey Long Island, clear your schedule for Saturday afternoon and get down to Long Beach for the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project. The Surfrider Foundation and Barefoot Wines have teamed up to host this cleanup and cleanups like it all over the country. Clay Marzo / The New Yorker

Last September a majority of the surfing world flocked to Long Island for the Quiksilver Pro New York. Clay Marzo was in town to compete in the trials and hang with fellow Quiksilver team rider and New Yorker Balaram Stack. Unfortunately Clay was knocked out in the semi’s and didn’t make it into the big event. He did, however, get to spend some time around Long Beach both in the water and out. More »

New York Premiere of Quiksilver’s No Agenda

Quiksilver’s new surf film, No Agenda, which “features everyone” is making it’s New York premiere tonight at the Quiksilver store in Oceanside. Long Beach Surfing Access Schedule for Summer 2012

Thanks to a gigantic effort by the Long Beach Surfer’s Association headed up by Billy Kufferman access to surfing beaches in Long Beach this summer has changed for the better. Last night the official summer surfing beaches schedule was announced and it’s a huge upgrade from past years. It’s fair to both regular beachgoers and surfers and as long as people respect the rules, surfing access in Long Beach should no longer be an issue. More »
