2011 Billabong Rio Pro

The 12 day waiting period for the 2011 Billabong Rio Pro started yesterday. There was a solid 6 foot swell in the water but the contest beach was all closeouts so they called a lay day. Today is a new day and the swell has dropped a little bit but there are some good clean waves for the first day of competition. The women are in the water now and the men might get in the water later today. We’ve got an injury update along with the first round heat matchups below. More »

Billabong Pro J-Bay 2010 Heat Draw UPDATED

  With the fourth stop of the 2010 ASP World Tour kicking off in a week from tomorrow, the buzz surrounding the contest is starting to increase. The event will take place in Eastern Cape, South Africa at the world famous Supertubes at Jeffreys Bay. We’ll have our thoughts and predictions on how the event will unfold in a post later this week. Parko injured at home days before J-Bay contest

  Australia’s Surfing Life just posted up some bad news regarding Joel Parkinson. Apparently he wiped out pretty bad at his in his backyard today at Snapper Rocks and came out of the water unable to walk with deep gnarly cut on his lower leg and was then taken to a local hospital. More »

2010 Billabong Pro Santa Catarina Final Highlights

The Billabong Pro was full of high flying action, but it all came to a end when the unstoppable local Brazilian Jadson Andre took down the nine time World Champion, Mr. Kelly Slater.  No one stood a chance to Jadson’s front-side 360s and fast electric maneuvers that he was pulling off  throughout the whole event. It was almost like his front-side 360’s were as easy as a regular cut-back. Jadson scored a heat total of 14.40, beating Kelly (14.00) by only 0.40 points in the final. More »
