Billabong Pipe Masters Day 2 Highlights

It was another lay day for the Billabong Pipe Masters, but let’s not forget about all the action that happened on Day 2. Local Kauai native Sebastian “Seabass” Zietz won the Vans Triple Crown following his advance into Round 4 of the Pipe Masters. Seabass previously won at Haleiwa and took a third at Sunset. A surfer from Kauai has not won the coveted title of Triple Crown champion since Andy Irons. More »

Kieren Perrow Wins Billabong Pipe Masters

It only took the first three days of the twelve day waiting period to complete the 2011 Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons. This event was easily the most exciting event of the entire year. The waves pumped for three straight days and the world’s best surfed their asses off. Australian Kieren Perrow, who made it all the way to the finals at last year’s Pipe Masters finally got a win at a world tour event after being on tour for 9 years by defeating fellow Aussie Joel Parkinson in the finals. The first real big swell has made its way to the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii and it’s just in time for the first day of the Billabong Pipeline Masters in Memory of Andy Irons. The swell is so big that some were saying that it might not run until it gets smaller but the official word just came in from Billabong that it is ON! Mick Fanning Withdraws From 2011 Billabong Pipe Masters

According to Tracks Magazine, Mick Fanning won’t be competing at the last event of the 2011 ASP World Tour which is the highly anticipated Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons. Unlike most of the world’s top surfers, Fanning still hasn’t traveled to Hawaii for the winter surf season and is still at home in New South Wales, Australia. The reason for Mick’s withdrawal is an apparent neck injury. More »
