John Florence Wins First ASP Event in Brazil

Nineteen year-old Hawaiian John John Florence won his first ever ASP world tour event at the Billabong Rio Pro in Brazil on Wednesday. After dominating competition in the final day of the event John John went head to head with Joel Parkinson in the finals and won convincingly with a score of 16.37. More »

Nike Lowers Pro Heat Matchups

Today kicks off the first day of the Nike Lowers Pro at Lower Trestles in California. This event is the third event on the ASP PRIME schedule and according to the forecasts it looks like there’s going to be great waves for the entire 5 day waiting period. Rip Curl Pro Bells Day 2 Highlights and Photos

Another day completed of the second stop on the 2012 ASP World Tour. Once again I missed out on most of the live action since it’s right around when I leave work so if you’re like me this post will help you get all caught up. The waves were good again and unlike the first day the men got the call to get in the water first. They ran all the way to the end of round two and there are some very exciting round three matchups. Rip Curl Pro Bells Day 1 Highlights and Photos

Day 1 of Bells is in the books. In clean 3 to 4 foot surf the women were in the water first and ran through the entire first round.  The men got it started later in the day and made it all the way to the 9th heat of round one. Sound Off: ASP Pay-Per-View Webcasts

The buzz around the online surf community is that the ASP is discussing a pay-per-view model for the live webcasts of tour events. Times are still tough these days, and if industry leaders like Quiksilver and Billabong are having trouble making a profit, how can anyone expect the problem-riddled Association of Surfing Professionals to stay afloat? Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast Final Recap

The first official world tour event of the year finished off with a surprising twist to an otherwise uneventful contest. Snapper’s crumbly, mushy conditions last week hardly made for a great show and after three lay days, the contest finally saw it’s end on Saturday. Australian high-flyer Taj Burrow and Australia’s sweetheart Stephanie Gilmore both took home first place in the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast at Snapper Rocks putting them both in the lead position for the world title race.
