Billabong Pro Tahiti Day 2 Recap

Clean conditions and pulsing three-to-four foot surf greeted the world’s best surfers today as Round 2 was completed at the primary venue of Teahupo’o. Event No. 5 of 10 on the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour, the Billabong Pro Tahiti enjoyed historic conditions for the 2011 installment, but faces the challenge of a less-than-ideal swell forecast for this season’s event. Despite this hurdle, the world’s best surfers have been tearing into the chunky lefthander of Teahupo’o the past two days and, once again, the Brazilians proved to be in top form. More »


Billabong Pro Tahiti Day 1 Recap

The waves may have not been as good as last year’s event but there was still plenty of action for the first official day of the Billabong Pro Tahiti. All of round 1 was completed along with the first two heats of round 2. Some standout moments of the first day include Adriano de Souza’s top heat score of 19.43, Josh Kerr going right (!), and Jordy Smith getting knocked out of the contest in second heat of round 2. Billabong Pro Tahiti Von Zipper Trials

The Billabong Pro Tahiti starts tomorrow and the round one matchups are ready to go. Earlier in the week the Von Zipper Trials were held to determine the two wildcard spots. Twenty-two year old Brazilian Ricardo Dos Santos and Tahiti local Alain Riou finished first and second, respectively and will be surfing in the main event. More »

It feels like forever since the last world tour contest but later this week the waiting period of the 2012 Billabong Pro Tahiti event will begin. The official start of the contest is August 16th and it will run until the 27th. It looks like there is some swell on the way so we could see surfers in the water on the very first day. John Florence Wins First ASP Event in Brazil

Nineteen year-old Hawaiian John John Florence won his first ever ASP world tour event at the Billabong Rio Pro in Brazil on Wednesday. After dominating competition in the final day of the event John John went head to head with Joel Parkinson in the finals and won convincingly with a score of 16.37. More »

Nike Lowers Pro Heat Matchups

Today kicks off the first day of the Nike Lowers Pro at Lower Trestles in California. This event is the third event on the ASP PRIME schedule and according to the forecasts it looks like there’s going to be great waves for the entire 5 day waiting period.
