Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast is ON!

  This was going to be a preview post for the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast and I was going to discuss the first event of the 2011 ASP World Tour and all that good stuff, but since it’s already tomorrow in Australia, I’ve got to skip all that and tell you that the contest is ON! Ahhhh, timezones! It’s just about 8am in Australia and Round 1 heats of the Men’s competition are in the water at Snapper Rocks and surfing in clean 2 – 4 foot waves. They plan on running all of the round 1 heats and then hopefully kick off the Women’s heats afterwards. More »

Taj Burrow wins Breaka Burleigh Pro

Kelly’s Quiver for the 2011 Quiksilver Pro Snapper Rocks

Even though it wasn’t officially announced that Kelly Slater would be surfing on the 2011 tour, everyone kind of knew he was going to, especially with the way he reacted to the Quiksilver Pro in New York. But, according to his main board sponsord, Channel Islands, it is officially official (a little redudundent?).  Not only that, but they’re giving us a look into Mr. 10 time World Champ’s quiver for the first contest of the year. GPS Chips in Jerseys for Quiksilver Pro

  If you thought the speed of technology was moving too fast, wait until you see how fast the top surfers in the world are moving during competition. For the first contest of the 2011 ASP World Tour, which is the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, surfers will be wearing contest jerseys with a tiny GPS tracking chip embedded into it so we can see how fast they really move. ASP Announces Quiksilver Pro in New York

  It is official! Quiksilver and the ASP just announced that the event scheduled for the East Coast on the 2011 tour will in fact, take place in Long Beach, New York. There was a ton of speculation and rumors about this when the ASP released the 2011 tour schedule back in November and now it’s going to happen. The contest will take place from September 4-15 on one of the beaches in Long Beach. More »

2011 ASP Event in New York?

  There have been rumors milling around the past couple weeks that when the ASP released the schedule for the 2011 tour that there would be stop in New York on the list. I first read about it earlier this past week on ESM’s website, in a little story about how one of them had overhead a Top 34 surfer speaking about the possibility of the ASP bringing a World Tour Event to the East Coast and more specifically, New York.
