Kieren Perrow Wins Billabong Pipe Masters
It only took the first three days of the twelve day waiting period to complete the 2011 Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons. This event was easily the most exciting event of the entire year. The waves pumped for three straight days and the world’s best surfed their asses off. Australian Kieren Perrow, who made it all the way to the finals at last year’s Pipe Masters finally got a win at a world tour event after being on tour for 9 years by defeating fellow Aussie Joel Parkinson in the finals. Billabong Pipe Masters Day 1 Results
What a day! Mick Fanning Withdraws From 2011 Billabong Pipe Masters
According to Tracks Magazine, Mick Fanning won’t be competing at the last event of the 2011 ASP World Tour which is the highly anticipated Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons. Unlike most of the world’s top surfers, Fanning still hasn’t traveled to Hawaii for the winter surf season and is still at home in New South Wales, Australia. The reason for Mick’s withdrawal is an apparent neck injury. More »
Kelly Slater Hasn’t Officially Won 11 Yet
Either someone from the ASP isn’t good at math or their computers aren’t working properly because it looks like the newly crowned ASP world champ, Kelly Slater, hasn’t actually won his 11th world title yet. More »
Kelly Slater Wins 11th World Title
Yesterday was a huge day for the surfing world for two reasons: We remembered the loss of one of surfing’s greats of Andy Irons as he passed away a year ago yesterday. And by making it through his round 3 heat at the Rip Curl Pro Search 2011, Kelly Slater took a large enough lead in the points rankings that he was declared the 2011 ASP world champion, making it his 11th time being declared the champ. Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco is On
We’re back — and so is the ASP World Tour! After a couple of weeks since the last contest in Portugal, the pros are stateside and surfing in Ocean Beach, San Francisco, as part of the 2011 Rip Curl Pro Search. Today is the first of the twelve day waiting period and the contest officials are wasting no time as the round 1 heats are on right now. With a building NW swell in the water and variable wind conditions it looks pretty fun, and there is more swell on tap for the next couple of days. Hurley Pro Trestles Round 1 Heat Matchups
Today kicks off the first day of the seventh stop of the ASP World Tour and the first stop after the mid-year cutoff, the Hurley Pro Trestles. There have been some shakeups to the list of guys competitng at Trestles due to injuries, withdrawals and top alternates choosing not to surf. More »
