Surf Movies and Photo/Art Show in New York This Weekend

If you’ve got zero plans for this weekend, you’re in luck, because there are a couple great surf events going on in New York. There will be screenings of a handful of awesome surf movies, a charity art show, and a surf contest, all taking place on Friday and Saturday. The best part, most of them are free to attend!

Starting on Friday, SMASH is hosting an UnsOund Movie Night at the Allegria Hotel in Long Beach. They will be screening Rip Curl’s insane Seven Ghosts film and Jamie O’Brien’s Who is J.O.B. Details below.

On Saturday, there are 3 different events to choose from, starting with Shadows of the Same Sun, a surf documentary by Thomas Brookins that takes an in-depth look at the surf community and history in NYC.

Next up on Saturday is another SMASH event. They are hosting Challenging Surf: A Collection of Surfing Shorts That Are Redefining Surf Film in Tribeca. The shorts being shown are:

To wrap up the events this weekend, UnsOund Surf Shop is hosting the UnsOund Surf Art/Photo Show and Charity Auction. The show will feature a bunch of local photographers and artists and will help raise money and awareness for The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and the Tommy Brull Foundation.
