happy 27th birthday surfrider foundation Happy Birthday Surfrider

On August 17th, 1984 a non-profit foundation that helps protects the oceans and beaches around the world was created. Glenn Henning and two of his friends set out to save one of their favorite waves in Malibu, California and with their success, the Surfrider Foundation was born. In the 27 years of existence, Surfrider has grown to be a recognized name all of the world with about 80 chapters in over 15 countries.

The mission of the Surfrider Foundation is simple:

The protection and enjoyment of oceans, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network.

I’ve said this before and I’ll continue saying it, if you’re a surfer, a bodyboarder, a bodysurfer or just someone who enjoy’s spending time in the ocean and at the beach there’s really no excuse why you shouldn’t be a member of the Surfrider Foundation. You can read all about what they do and how to get involved on any level at surfrider.org.

If you’re not already a member of the Surfrider Foundation, click here and sign up and if you are, good on ya. While you’re at it, go give Surfrider a big Happy Birthday on their Facebook or Twitter pages.

Happy Birthday Surfrider!
