There’s a local college radio station here on Long Island called WUSB 90.1 FM and twice a year they throw out all their normal programming and bump reggae over the air waves for 3 days straight. When I say reggae, I’m not talking about the stuff you hear on the top 40 radio stations, I’m talking the real deal, Barrington Levy, Big Youth, Marley, Tosh, Eek-a-mouse, The Gladiators, Capleton, and that’s just naming a few. They’ve been doing this for year’s now and I make sure never to miss it.

This year’s winter marathon started tonight February 3rd at 10pm and will end on February 7th at midnight.

February 6th is Bob Marley’s birthday and it’s the main reason they hold the winter marathon during the first weekend of February. The other marathon comes every year on 4th of July weekend, which helps to strengthen my argument as being the best holiday of the year.

For all the Long Island, NY people reading, tune into 90.1 FM on your radios. For everyone else in the world, you can still listen because they stream live of the internet.

On your computer, you can listen by clicking this link and opening the file up with almost any media player (iTunes, Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc). If you’re rocking an iPhone, you can download the free Shoutcast Radio app and search for WUSB.

If you’re still a little confused, WUSB has a page up on their site with full instructions on how to listen from pretty much anywhere. Click here for it.

YA CANT SLEEP!
