Billabong welcomed Laura Enever to its pro surf team today just in time for the start of the 2013 ASP Women’s World Tour on March 2. Hailing from North Narrabeen, Australia, Enever is ranked eighth in the world at just 21 years old.
In a press release, Billabong Global Marketing Manager Graham Stapelberg said Enever will be an asset to the company’s surf team. “On behalf of the Billabong brand, we are thrilled to add Laura to our roster,” he said in a press release. “Not only is she a brilliant surfer and a top competitor, but Laura has emerged as something of a style icon within the beach lifestyle world, which makes her a perfect representative for Billabong.”
Enever won ASP Rookie of the Year at the Van’s Triple Crown in 2008 at just 17-years-old and entered the World Championship Tour at 18. She was runner up at the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast last year and is looking to win it all this year.
Since her debut in competitive surfing, Enever has had a few different sponsors. She started with Roxy, moved to Nike, transferred to Hurley and now signed with Billabong. However, the sponsor switch was not all about surfing, Enever said. As a blossoming model, Enever said she thinks Billabong is the right choice for her.
“I really love what Billabong represents,” Enever said in the press release. “It’s a core surf brand with high performance products, but at the same time brings out the beauty of the beach lifestyle. My other passion besides surfing is the fashion world and it’s clear Billabong is all about taking high fashion to the beach. They are collaborating with fashion bloggers and coming out with amazing products and wetsuits. Beach fashion is changing and Billabong is leading the way.”
We wish Laura all the best of luck!
