SURFER Magazine announced Monday that it is releasing Salted, an all-girls surf magazine on Aug. 14. The magazine will include photos, interviews, profiles, fashion features and intriguing travel stories on some of the worlds best female surfers, such as Coco Ho, Stephanie Gilmore, Carissa Moore and Sally Fitzgibbons.

With the exception of the lesser-known UK-based women’s surf magazine SurfGirl, female surfers are rarely featured in  SURFER Magazine, Surfing Magazine or Transworld Surf, unless it involves swimsuits or relatively big industry news. Though Transworld has made an effort to dedicate issues to girls, there has yet to be a designated publication for women.

Salted is a much-overdue homage to women’s surfing. Made with the quality, authenticity, and incredible imagery you’ve come to expect fromSURFER Magazine, Salted is unlike any other magazine on the market,” said SURFER Magazine in its press release.

However, the 100-page mag is only a momentary offering and will only be on newsstands until Oct. 16. You can find it at your local surf shop or book store. The digital version, for all you iPad aficionados, will be available on Apple’s Newsstand beginning Aug. 15.

“There are so many amazing female surfers right now and so many interesting stories that aren’t being told,” said Janna Irons, SURFER Magazine Managing Editor. “It’s great to finally give them the attention they deserve—and to have a home for all the beautiful images we’ve collected. I’m so excited we were able to create something that celebrates all we’ve been missing out on.”
