Lakey Peterson is one of the rising stars of women’s surfing at only 18 years old. Though she got a later start than most other pros, she’s quickly advanced to No. 7 in the world and one of the most progressive female surfers ever. Sally Fitzgibbons Lands First Air Reverse

This week’s video from the Red Bull Web series, “Sally Stories,” outlines Sally’s struggle with learning the all important air reverse. Women’s surfing is progressing at a rapid rate. Though it’s a grueling task to perfect an air, most women are now training to do aerials in competition. It seems like everyone’s getting a piece of Wadi Adventure Wave Pool in Dubai these days, and Sally Fitzgibbons is no exception. The Australian surfer recently launched a five-part web series with her sponsor, Red Bull. The series, “Sally Stories,” chronicles her journey from her loss in Huntington Beach at the US Open to her adventure in the United Arab Emirates. More »

Longboarding is undeniably a lost art form. Most shortboarders get annoyed when longboarders are in the lineup. But they are wave artists. They don’t need to speed down the line searching for a ramp to execute a slob grab. Longboarders slow it down and enjoy the ride. They are about style, flow and technique. It’s probably the purest form of surfing and it deserves a lot more credit than it receives.
