Surfr App // A New Social Media Tool For Surfers

January 11th, 2013 by Samantha Rupert

If anyone remembers the short-lived Swellster social network from the early 2000s, you’ll be happy to know that a similar, but way improved, social media tool for surfers is about to be unleashed. And it’s the first of its kind! Surfr, developed by award winning design company Pixil Agency , is a new app for iPhone that logs surfing experiences. It displays your mobile uploads, spot check-ins and swell info in one easily navigatable package. Unfortunately, its release is currently halted due to funding hardships and it needs help to be completed. More »

Vans Waffle Sole iPhone Case

December 21st, 2011 by John Zanussi

A couple of days ago the popular tech site Gizmodo posted a photo of what appeared to be this iPhone case that had the signature Van’s waffle sole as the backing. It’s safe to say that the internet went nuts trying to find out where they could buy it and I totally understand why. The case is super cool and if you’ve ever owned a pair of Van’s kicks you’d probably agree. The case has white sides with the waffle sole back and the Van’s “Off the Wall” tag on the side. Summer 2011 As Seen Through My iPhone

November 8th, 2011 by John Zanussi

Fall is in full effect here in New York and winter is just around the corner. It’s too bad because summer is my favorite season and it always seems to go by to fast. Luckily for me, and now you, I took a ton of photos with my iPhone that capture some of the good times I had. As you’ll see in the photos, a lot of my summer is spent on the water whether it’s surfing, fishing, boating, kayaking, or at the beach. I also enjoy eating good food, drinking beers, and playing in NYC. More »

Dane Gudauskas & Isis ‘Lips’ Collection

April 25th, 2010 by John Zanussi

When not surfing and traveling the world competing in the WQS, Dane Gudauskas keeps busy with his second love: creating art. He’s now teamed up with a company called Isis, which specializes in iPhone and laptop accessories including bags, cases, and skins. The ‘Lips’ collection, is an original design inked by Dane on surfboards that accompanied him to Tahiti, Australia and Hawaii, was his first choice for the ISIS collection. The super funky ‘Lips’ image is as bold as Dane himself and incorporates bright colors that pop off the ISIS iPhone shell.  Plus, the interior of each shell flaunts the pro-surfer’s autograph! “I was stoked to sign my name on this project.  ISIS is cutting edge in the consumer electronics market and their gear is a great canvas to showcase my creative side and give iPhone cases some artistic personality”, says Gudauskas.  “I’m waiting for my next inspiration to hit so I can recreate the magic and collaborate with them again.  Through ISIS, I want to push the envelop of creativity within the consumer electronic industry”, Dane states More »

SurfersVillage.com Releases “First in Surfing News” iPhone App

April 6th, 2010 by John Zanussi

SurfersVillage.com has teamed up with French Application Developers Apps & Co, to become the first website of it’s kind to launch an app dedicated to bringing the latest regional and international surfing news to the masses via the iPhone. After installing the app and playing around with it for a few minutes, I got to dig through it and get a feel for the app. It is great to see the surf industry jump onto the iPhone bandwagon. We’ve seen it with Vans Triple Crown, Quiksilver, and the ASP even has an app, but the SurfersVillage app is the only one out right now for strictly news. More »

ASP launches “ASPtogo” iPhone App

February 24th, 2010 by John Zanussi

Well, it seems like everyone is jumping on the iPhone app wagon. First it was the Vans Triple Crown app and just this week we posted about Quiksilver’s Live App. Now the ASP has their own, called ASPtogo, and it is damn good. It has all the goods, from event listings for the year to up to date ratings for both the men and the women. For each event, you can see the surf condition, live scores, heat results, video highlights and contest photos. I’ve been playing with it all morning and it is pretty awesome. I highly recommend it for any one who likes to keep updated on contests and can’t be in front of a computer 24/7. Pricing info and pics of the app in action are below. More »
