The staff at TransWorld Surf is reportedly working on its final issue, due out this September. GrindMedia, TransWorld’s publisher, announced today that it would stop printing issues of the magazine.

While print issues will be discontinued, TransWorld Surf’s website will continue to operate as usual. Launched in 1999, TransWorld Surf has been a reliable surf news rag and a staple in every surfer’s magazine library.

In a statement today, GrindMedia said it would stop printing TransWorld Surf because it also prints Surfer and Surfing Magazine. After acquiring TransWorld in May from the Bonnier Corp. buyout, GrindMedia said it was “unfeasible” to print three surf magazines.

“Following an exhaustive review, we’ve concluded that producing three monthly print surf titles is not feasible for GrindMedia and we will no longer produce TransWorld Surf as a print property while the Web site will remain live,” said Norb Garrett, Senior Vice President/Group Publisher of GrindMedia. “We will instead focus on growing our Surfer, Surfing and SUP (Stand Up Paddler), expanding the Beached Days brand and developing our women’s/juniors brands with Salted and the Surfing Swimsuit issue.”
