A company called Shwood Eyewear is doing something I’ve never seen before, creating sunglasses with all wood frames. Using two different kinds of exotic hardwood, the sunglasses are handcrafted in Portland, Oregon. There are two different models too choose from, Canby and Govy. The wood used in the Canby model is found locally in Oregon, while the wood selection for Govy is harvested from somewhere in Africa. Not only are they using quality hardwood for the frames, but the lenses being used are no joke either. Imported from Italy, are Carl Zeiss lenses which are fitted to each pair of Shwood sunglasses. The lenses offer 100% UVA and UVB protection and come in a choice of gray or brown tinting. They also offer a polarized offer too. I’m still on the fence on whether or not I’d wear a pair of these but they do have a fresh new uniqueness to them and could catch on pretty quickly. For only $95 on their website, it might be worth picking up before everyone has a pair.
