I’ve had these headphones for just about a week now, and let me just say that these are the best headphones I’ve ever owned. There a plenty of things about the Skullcandy x RocNation Aviator headphones that I love and there are also a few things that I wish were different but either way these things are sick. Click through for my full review and also a bunch of hi-def photos of the headphones.

Pros

The leather ear pieces are super soft and comfortable. They fit perfectly over my ears and after wearing them for a few hours straight for a couple days I have no complaints.

The earpieces are adjustable in height so that you can easily fit them to the size of your head. I’ve worn them with and without a hat on and they still fit fine.

The wire is made from a nylon that feels sturdy and also is almost completely tangle free. It feels more like a shoe lace then a headphone wire.

The wire also comes down from one side of the headphones instead of making that “Y” shape that crosses your chest with most headphones.

The in-line audio control/mic work really well. My iPhone is my primary music device so I get the full use out of this feature. Volume up and down works as it should and the same with the play/pause button. I’ve taken a few phone calls and not once has the person on the other end said “I can’t hear you”.

The sound quality is as perfect as I think my ears could hear. At full blast there is no distortion or loss of quality. At half volume and up all outside noises are gone and all you can hear is your music. Another thing I like, is that the audio doesn’t leak out of the headphones while they’re on your head. I ride the train everyday to and from work so I know how absolutely annoying it can be when the person next to you is listening to music and you can hear it perfectly from their headphones. This is not the case with the Aviators.

The headphones are super light. Looking at them for the first time before picking them up you’ll think they weigh way more then they actually do.

They fold up into a nice compact shape and come with a plush little leather carry case.

They are built really well. The feel very durable and makes me think they’re going to last for a while, even with using them every single day.

Cons

These cons are very minor, but coming from me who uses headphones close to 8 hours everyday M-F (not exaggerating), I have to point them out.

The wire comes out of the left side. I’m a righty so using the volume and play pause controls took a little adjusting too.

I wish the wire was another 6 inches to a foot longer. Plugged into the back of my iMac, I have just enough slack to reach my head. Also, if I’m wearing them while skating it feels just a bit snug with my iPhone in my back pocket. The little extra slack would go a long way.

This might be just personal preference but I would have like to had the part that goes into the audio jack be “L” shaped instead of straight. I feel like it’s easier to break or snap off in more strenuous uses.

Overall, I’m super happy with the Aviators and glad I dropped the $150 to purchase these. If you’re in the market for some new headphones these are the ones I recommend. If you did go out and get a pair of the Aviators, let us know what you think about them in the comments.

The Skullcandy x RocNation Aviator Headphones are available for purchase right now online.

This is a great review. My headphones recently broke, and I am unable to fix it, and this really locks in my decision to buy the new aviators.

kinda disappointed how they don’t noise isolate at all tho, you’d expect for $150 they’d atleast through that in. not bad sound tho
