Casa Surf Project

November 4th, 2009 by John Zanussi

This might be the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. La Casa Del Camino hotel in Laguna Beach teamed up with 10 different brands and let them each remodel and design a room in their hotel. If you can make it, they are holding an open house on November 4th from 6pm – 8pm or you can just check out the pictures in the post. More »

Surf in Long Island, New York

November 4th, 2009 by John Zanussi

It’s about time Surfline got it together and repped NY the way it should be. A few days ago posted a feature with local ripper Balaram Stack narrating through some excellent shots of Long Island going off. If you’re like a lot of people, and think there is no surf in NY, you are in for quite the surprise. Check the pictures in the post. More »

First Artificial Surf Reef Opens in Europe

November 3rd, 2009 by John Zanussi

Surfers in Boscombe, England must be siked today as the official word that their brand new artificial reef is now open. It took 55 giant sandbags laid on the ocean bottom to fill the size of a full football field to create what every surfer dreams of at their local beach break. Apparently the reef will turn what would have been an unrideable knee high wave into a reeling head high wall of goodness. Hopefully one of these days we can get something like this built in NY. Nixon Newton Digital

October 30th, 2009 by John Zanussi

Nixon has done it again with the Newton Digital. How could you not be siked on this fine piece to time telling machinery. I rock out with the normal Newton but this new digital version just takes it to the next level. Telling time on the digital is easier then then analog but it doesn’t matter when they are so dope looking. You can get the Newton Digital in four different colorways from your local shop or Nixon’s website. More »

Miss Reef 2010 Calendar

October 25th, 2009 by John Zanussi

Anyone who has ever opened a surf mag can tell you what is always on the inside cover, a Reef add with some tanned beauty in a bikini. Why not have that in calendar form? Reef just dropped their 2010 Miss Reef calendar and let me tell you, there is no better way to look at the days of the year. For 2010, they went down to North Eastern Brazil to shoot the 12 hotties to keep you company year round. Click through for some more pics. More »

Boardshort Vending Machines

October 25th, 2009 by John Zanussi

Quiksilver and The Standard have teamed up to release vending machines that sell pairs of boardshorts at their 4 hotel locations in New York, Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Miami. The shorts being sold are a dope twist on retro style baggies. As retro shorts would be, these have a tighter short fit but the designs are still fresh. Click through to see some pictures. More »

Ryan Tatar Surf Photography

October 24th, 2009 by John Zanussi

Ryan Tatar used a handful of old cameras from the 1960’s and 1970’s to shoot some great pics of the Hurricane Bill swell up in Maine this past summer. The shots have a real retro feel to them and do a sick job of capturing the Maine surf scene. More of his photos after the jump. More »
