SMASH presents The Surfers Studio: An evening with Jamie Brisick

Our friends over at SMASH (Surfing + Movies + Art + Shaping + History) are putting on an awesome event this weekend in New York City. “The Surfers Studio: An evening with Jamie Brisick” will take place this Saturday, Februrary 26th at 8pm at the Anthology Film Archives in the East Village, NYC. The first of it’s kind, this event will give us a chance to take an in depth look into the life of Jamie Brisick, a surfer on the ASP world tour from 1986 to 1991, a writer, photographer, and director.
“Jamie has since documented surf culture extensively. His books include We Approach Our Martinis With Such High Expectations and Have Board, Will Travel: The Definitive History of Surf, Skate, and Snow. His writings and photographs have appeared in The Surfer’s Journal, The New York Times, and The Guardian. He was the editor of Surfing magazine from 1998-2000. In 2008 he was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship.”
The fine people at SMASH are doing some excellent work and it shows with events like this. If you’re like me and cannot make it out this weekend, no need to worry as there will be many more like this in the future.
