The New York Surf Film Festival is coming back in September, for it’s 3rd year. Being from New York, I had the privilege of attending last year’s event and watching a few surf flicks. The NYSFF is mostly about showcasing local and independent and attending the event really gives you a good chance to experience what the New York surf scene is all about. The founders of the event work hard year round to get the most out of the festival, whether it’s selecting the screening panel, screening movies, finding sponsors or promoting the event. Just last week, the 2010 screening panel was announced and the submission period was opened and will be open until May 15th, 2010. The official announcement on the NYSFF website:

“The New York Surf Film Festival is pleased to announce its official 2010 Screening Panel. The 2010 Screening Panel is made up of both international and local surfers with a wide range of credentials ranging from magazine editor to filmmaker, recognized artist, surfboard shaper, local surf shop owner and more. The panel will judge the NYSFF 2010 Official Selections across a growing categories list this year including, but not limited to: Best Feature, Best Short, Best Cinematography, Best Musical Score, and Best Animation.”

The dates for this year’s event are September 24th – 26th 2010 and like the past two years, will be held at Tribeca Cinemas. You can see the full lineup of this year’s screening panel on NYSFF’s website.

We will keep you updated on any news about the NYSFF and SURFBANG will be attending the event in September to bring you exclusive news, photos and interviews from the people involved.
