“A Hundred Miles to The End” – A Long Island Surf Film

I had the privilege of interviewing John Beattie, the man behind the surf film “A Hundred Miles to The End,” which premiered last Saturday night at Long Beach Public Library. This past winter, John gave me a sneak preview of a rough cut of his film and I was pleasantly surprised by the overall emotional connection I felt as I watched the footage. I grew up surfing Gilgo Beach in the early ’70s and spent a good part of my summers cruising to Montauk to surf the uncrowded breaks, that today (some 40 plus years later), I consider my home break. SMASH FEST 1 Schedule

This four-day event will span the NY area, from NYC to Rockaway, to Long Beach, and Montauk. The Film Festival is a  profit-sharing surf film festival for independent filmmakers.  Profits from screenings will be shared with each filmmaker, allowing  an opportunity for directors and producers to help recoup the costs for their hard work on each film.
