Kepa Acero Surfs the End of the World Patagonia
I’ve watched this video a handful of times since I first saw it a week or so ago. It’s amazing. Kepa Acero, a surfer and explorer from Basque Country, Spain set out on the ultimate mission to surf at the end of the world. All the way at the southern tip of South America in Patagonia, Kepa finds himself totally alone and somehow manages to score a perfect overhead left. More »

Quiksilver NFL NY Giants and NY Jets Boardshorts
If you’re a football fan living in New York, chances are you’re probably a Giants or Jets fan. You’ll also know that tomorrow’s matchup between the two teams means a lot for each team’s playoff hopes. This is a surf blog so I’ll spare you my thoughts on the game but what better way to root for your team then by wearing a nice pair of Quiksilver boardshorts. Quiksilver has teamed up with the NFL to release a line of shorts that represent teams from the NFL. Up until the summer only two of the California football teams were available but right before the Quiksilver Pro New York started Quik debuted shorts for the Giants and Jets. More »

Pinch My Salt’s Surf Madness Movie
PinchMySalt.tv’s Sterling Spencer is an interesting dude. His blog always offers up some sort of weirdly hilarious content in the form of words, photos, and video. Most recently he teamed up with Billabong and Verizon to put together this 38 minute surf movie featuring guys like Taj Burrow, Dane Reynolds, Jordy Smith, and a handful more. Vans Waffle Sole iPhone Case
A couple of days ago the popular tech site Gizmodo posted a photo of what appeared to be this iPhone case that had the signature Van’s waffle sole as the backing. It’s safe to say that the internet went nuts trying to find out where they could buy it and I totally understand why. The case is super cool and if you’ve ever owned a pair of Van’s kicks you’d probably agree. The case has white sides with the waffle sole back and the Van’s “Off the Wall” tag on the side. Alabama Cloud Waves
This has to be the coolest thing to come out of Alabama since Forest Gump. Yesterday, photos of these wave shaped clouds made their rounds on the internet. When I first saw them I immediately thought it was someone screwing around in Photoshop. After some video popped up (below) and a few google searches, I found myself reading about Kelvin-Helmholtz instability which is the cause of the amazingly cool looking clouds. More »
Carissa Moore Talks Triple Crown and Hopes For Future
This year was full of major controversies, complications, and scandal in the sport of surfing. Aside from the truth about Andy Irons’ death, the implementation of big-ticket tour events, and Kelly Slater’s premature crowning tritely referred to as “Title-gate,” surfing once again saw a steep decline in the appreciation and support of women’s surfing. Quiksilver Pro New York 2012 Cancelled
Today was going just fine until the news that the 2012 Quiksilver Pro New York just landed in my inbox. After all the back and forth that went down a few days before this past year’s event I can’t say that I’m surprised that it fell through for 2012. Full press release from the ASP is below. More »
