There’s No Waves in New York?
With the Quiksilver Pro New York only a few short months away Quiksilver is already gearing up it’s marketing campaign for the event. In this clip, they hit the streets of NYC and asked random people if there was surf in NY. Littered in are some pretty rad clips of Balaram doin his thing in LB. More »
WUSB Summer Reggae Marathon
This upcoming weekend is without a doubt my favorite weekend of the whole entire year. It’s officially summer here in New York, which means warm weather, warm water, and spending way more time at the beach then in the recent months. The only crappy part about this time of year is that the waves usually aren’t all that great, but the best part of hurricane season is right around the corner. Also, this weekend has so many good things going for it, one of them being 3 days of straight reggae music on the radio. More »

Artist Profile: David Macomber of Shark Sugar
When I think of surf art, I usually think of surfboard murals, spray paint, canvases cascading with wave scenes, barreling photos and some puka shells thrown in. I’ve rarely seen everything rolled into one style. David Macomber of Shark Sugar does just that. A New Jersey-lifer, Macomber combines all elements of the NJ surf scene to create a truly innovative, beautiful style of art. Using an array of surfboard debris, paint, wood, steel and photos, Macomber builds inspiring and nostalgic pieces that look good hanging on any surface around. In fact, he has become one of my favorite surf artists. So, if you aren’t from the East Coast and haven’t heard what Shark Sugar is, you’re about to find out. More »
Lowers Raid 2011
This has to be one of the greatest things I’ve seen in a while. Actually, watching it again, this is what some Long Island beach breaks look like in the summer when any sort of swell makes its way through. This is different though as it was totally organized and all in good fun. This group of people pirates should travel around the country and do this for hire. More »
YouTube – South Swell Hits So Cal
Looks like early summertime in So Cal is offering some good fun days of waves. I wish I could say the same about the New York. Here’s Kelly Slater, Roy Powers, Ian Crane, and Timmy Reyes enjoying themselves at Lower Trestles. More »
International Surfing Day
Today is the 7th annual International Surfing Day. A day created for surfers worldwide to celebrate the sport we all love so much.
